Landlord Development Course  (Foundation)

This course is based on best on legal and best practice guidance in the Private Rented Sector.

As Landlords, we need to know the essentials for managing a residential property.  The Landlord Development foundation course gives you the confidence to know that you are managing your tenants and property in a responsible way.

The training is intended to follow the natural progression of a tenancy from beginning to end and will cover all the main areas a landlord should know.

  • Pre Tenancy

  • Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Inspecting your Property

  • Setting Up and During a Tenancy

  • Ending a Tenancy

  • HMOs

At the end of each module there will be a set of multiple choice questions.  Finally, there will be one open answer question for you to submit for assessment by DASH.

By the end of this course, Landlords will have developed their management skills and understand their rights and responsibilities.  They will be able to identify and eliminate those unacceptable health and safety hazards that are the Landlord’s responsibility in law.

The course is also open to non-members at a cost of £60.  Payment is made online.

This course satisfies a number of Council's Licensing criteria (including Nottingham, Portsmouth, Charnwood and Gedling), which requires a Landlord to have completed suitable professional development.

Advanced DASH Landlord Course

This is an interactive course which consists of 4 modules: 

  1. Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards 

  2. Private Rental Sector Licensing

  3. Fire Safety in the Private Rental Sector Single Household

  4. Right to Rent

The course is completed either as a standalone course or as part of the DASH Landlord Accreditation renewal process.

At the end of each module Landlords are asked to complete a series of question relating to the topic.

Once the course has been completed and verified, Landlords are able to download a continual professional development certificate.


DASH Knowledge Hub - Course 1

This course is presented in 4 modules, each covering a range of aspects that landlords need to be aware of in order to carry out their responsibilities in a professional manner:

Module 1: Considerations when choosing tenants in receipt of benefits

Module 2: Using a letting agent versus self-managing

Module 3: Property possession and recovering debt

Module 4: Abandoned property and the route to lawful possession

There will be a series of questions at the end of each module which you will need to answer to complete the module.
