A lack of professional curiosity is a common theme among serious case reviews, especially those involving children and vulnerable adults. In this session we will explore the barriers to professional curiosity and how we need to challenge these barriers and assumptions. We will then explore what it means to be professionally curious –at risk individuals rarely just ‘open up’ and communicate their problems – so we as professionals must be curious, observant and employ strong listening skills. This session uses action learning sets and scenarios, giving learners the opportunity to reflect on own practice.
